About us

We’re Andreea and Rareș.

We didn’t plan to fall in love with Treviso. It just happened — the way the best things usually do, without announcement and without a particularly good reason.

At first it was a stop. A convenient base, close to the airport, thirty minutes from Venice. Practical. Sensible. Nothing more. Then it became a habit. Then, something we started looking forward to more than the destinations around it.

Treviso has a different rhythm from most places in Italy — and certainly from the cities people usually come to the Veneto to see. The mornings are slower. The coffee is better, or at least it tastes that way when you’re not drinking it standing up in a crowded bar. People don’t rush, and somehow that permission to not rush passes to you too.

You stop feeling like a tourist. You start feeling like someone who simply lives here for a while.

We kept coming back for the canals — quiet, unhurried, nothing like Venice in the best possible way. For the food, which is simple in the way that only very good food can afford to be: radicchio risotto, cicchetti at the bar, tiramisu that tastes nothing like the version that spread to the rest of the world. For the evening aperitivo that turns into dinner without anyone noticing the transition.

And maybe most of all — for the feeling of returning here after a full day somewhere else.

There’s a particular moment that Treviso does better than anywhere we know. It’s early evening. You’ve spent the day in Venice, or Verona, or the Prosecco Hills. You’re full of impressions and tired in the good way. The train pulls in, you walk the few minutes back, and the city receives you quietly. No noise. No crowds. Just the canals, the frescoed facades catching the last of the light, and the particular calm of a place that has never needed to perform for anyone.

That’s when Treviso makes sense.

ZARA NOVE rooms, Treviso, Italy

We created ZARA NOVE because we wanted a place that belonged to this feeling. Not a hotel — something more like the apartment a friend would lend you if they lived here. Somewhere with space to breathe, a kitchen to use, a terrace for the morning coffee, and a door to close at the end of the day that feels like yours.

We can’t be here as often as we’d like. That part hasn’t changed.

So we decided to share it — with the people who are ready to find what we found. A version of Italy that doesn’t ask anything of you except to slow down and pay attention.

We think you’ll like what you notice.
